FoodCore

FoodCore is web software for small UK food businesses that keeps recipes, ingredient costs, allergens and labels in one place. Higher plans add stock, production planning, orders, food safety records and reporting. It is aimed at home bakers, market traders, bakeries, caterers and small multi-site kitchens, and can also be switched to US food rules.

Who it is for

  • Small bakeries and cake businesses

Recipe costing, Natasha's Law labels, allergen tracking, order diary and supplier shopping lists for small bakeries.

  • Home bakers and market traders

The lowest plan covers recipes, allergens and labels for one user on one site, aimed at start-ups and market stalls.

  • Caterers and growing kitchens

The top plan adds food safety checks, menus, meal planning, team logins and multi-site management.

Less suited to: Large operations needing an enterprise system or a 24/7 helpline. The founder says FoodCore is not an enterprise ERP and support is a single person who does not answer around the clock.

What it does

  • Recipe and ingredient management

Stores recipes, including recipes inside recipes, with ingredients, method, nutrition and HACCP notes linked to one ingredient database.

  • Recipe costing

Calculates cost per batch and per portion, food cost percentage and margin, and recalculates when supplier prices change.

  • Allergen tracking

Tracks the 14 UK allergens at ingredient level and carries them through every recipe automatically.

  • PPDS food labels

Generates Natasha's Law labels from recipes, with shelf life set once so use-by and best-before dates fill in automatically.

  • Allergen matrix and menus

Builds menus from the recipe library and produces an allergen matrix that can be printed or shared as a link.

  • Stock control

Shows stock on hand, sends low-stock alerts and deducts ingredients when a production run is completed.

  • Production scheduling

Schedules production runs against recipes, links them to customer orders and keeps batch notes.

  • Orders and collections diary

Logs customer orders and collections, with wholesale price lists and hand-recorded payments and deposits.

  • Supplier shopping lists

Creates purchase lists grouped by supplier from the planned production.

  • Delivery note photo into stock

Lets users photograph a delivery note to add goods to stock.

  • Food safety records

Daily due-diligence checks, HACCP plans, corrective action register, temperature monitoring and a PDF export for environmental health inspections.

  • Meal planning

Calendar-based meal plans with nutrient and cost totals per day, suited to care homes, schools and caterers.

  • Business insights

Reports on cost and margin trends, waste, estimated carbon footprint, production trends and an audit log.

  • Shopify and WooCommerce order sync

Imports online shop orders into FoodCore; the top plan also includes card payment links.

  • US compliance mode

A per-account setting switches allergens, nutrition panel, units and currency to US rules (FDA Nutrition Facts, the Big 9 allergens, USD costing).

  • Barcode ingredient import

Adds ingredients by barcode to save typing allergen and nutrition data.
