Introduction

A label has to carry the right name, ingredients, allergens, nutrition panel and dates, and handwritten ones get smudged or skipped. This software takes two forms. Nutrition labelling tools work from your recipe: you enter the ingredients, and the software calculates nutrition values, highlights allergens and produces a print-ready label in the format your country requires. Date-coding tools sit in the kitchen and print prep, use-by and grab-and-go labels with expiry dates worked out automatically, usually on a thermal label printer.

Who needs it

Producers selling packaged food, bakeries and delis labelling products, and restaurant kitchens that want consistent date labels on prepped items. It becomes worth having when you start selling pre-packed products, or when handwritten labels cause errors in the kitchen. Check local labelling rules.
