Quality Management System (food QMS)

Introduction

When an auditor or a customer asks for proof, a folder of paper forms is slow to search and easy to get wrong. A food quality management system keeps that proof in one place: documents under version control, supplier approvals, audits, complaints, non-conformances and corrective actions, with a record of who did what and when. The products here are aimed at manufacturers and processors preparing for schemes such as SQF or BRCGS, rather than restaurants. Some are software only, some are sold with consultants, and some add statistical process control on the production line.

Who needs it

Food manufacturers, co-packers and brands that face customer or certification audits, and larger food service groups managing many suppliers. It becomes worth having when audit preparation takes weeks of collecting paper, or when supplier certificates are chased by email and lost.
