Food & Beverage ERP

49 products listed

Introduction

A food factory has to answer several questions from one set of records: what went into each batch, what it cost, what is in stock and who has ordered it. Food and beverage ERP (enterprise resource planning) joins recipes, purchasing, stock, production, sales orders and invoicing in a single system, usually with batch tracing and best-before control built in. It replaces the spreadsheets, paper production sheets and separate accounting exports that manufacturers tend to outgrow. Some products are built for one trade, such as bakeries or meat, while others are general manufacturing systems with a food configuration added.

Who needs it

Food producers, processors, wholesale bakeries and food wholesalers that make to a recipe or sell by batch. It becomes worth having when orders, stock and costing no longer fit in spreadsheets, when a customer or auditor asks for lot traceability, or when production is planned from memory. A single-site kitchen serving its own customers rarely needs it.

What to look for

  • Food-specific or general ERP. Some profiled products are built for one trade, such as bakeries or meat producers, while others are general manufacturing ERP with a food package. Check that recipes, best-before dates and catch weight (items sold by variable weight) are standard, not custom work.

  • Lot tracing and recall tools. Batch tracing appears across the profiles, but scope differs. Ask how quickly you can trace one lot to every customer who received it.

  • Scales, labels and scanners. Several products connect to industrial scales and label printers, and a few are Windows desktop software rather than browser-based. Confirm your equipment works with the system.

  • Home-market invoicing and labelling. Many products are built for one country, with local tax invoices, customs or labelling rules built in. Check that yours are covered, and that the interface is in your language.

  • Cloud, on-premises or both. Most profiled products are browser-based, but some offer an installed version. That affects who looks after servers, backups and updates.
