Introduction

Behind a bar, the loss is usually in the liquid: over-pouring, free drinks, spillage and theft that a normal till does not show. Bar and pub management software tackles this by comparing what was sold with what stock counts say was used. Some products count bottles on a phone with a fill-level slider or a Bluetooth scale. Others control pouring with measured dispensers. A few are pub tills that include stock, bookings and staff rotas. A separate group serves nightclubs, with guest lists, bottle service and table deposits. The right product depends on whether your worry is stock loss, taking orders or managing tables.

Who needs it

Pubs, cocktail bars and clubs with a large spirits and draught range, and hotels or groups with several bars. It becomes worth having when stock takes are done by guesswork, when takings and stock rarely agree, or when you cannot tell which shift is losing product.
