Introduction

A phone that rings during service, a paper diary with crossed-out names and a table left empty by a no-show all cost a restaurant money. Reservation and table management software moves bookings into one diary. Guests book from your website, search results or social profiles, and staff see the same covers on a floor plan. Most products send reminders, take card deposits or holds to cut no-shows, keep a waiting list for cancellations and build a record of each guest's visits. Some also list you on a diner marketplace that sends new bookings, sometimes with a fee per diner. Others are a flat monthly tool for the bookings you already get.

Who needs it

Table-service restaurants, bars, pubs and hotel dining rooms that take bookings by phone or online. It pays off once your book is busy enough that double-bookings, no-shows or unanswered calls are noticeable, or when you want guest history at the host stand. Counter-service cafes rarely need it.
