Introduction

A crowd on the pavement, a clipboard and a host guessing waits of twenty minutes is a poor first impression. Waitlist and queue software replaces the clipboard with a digital list. Staff add a party, or guests join by scanning a QR code, and a text or message tells them when their table is ready so they can wait elsewhere. Good tools estimate waits from past turnover and let guests check their place. Some are stand-alone waitlist apps, while others are part of a reservation system that also handles bookings. The category matters most where walk-ins, not bookings, fill the room.

Who needs it

Busy restaurants, cafes and food stalls where guests queue at peak times, and venues that seat walk-ins alongside bookings. It becomes worth having when the door is crowded on your busiest nights, or guests walk away because they cannot tell how long they will wait.
