Voice AI & Phone Ordering

14 products listed

Introduction

Phone orders get missed when the kitchen is busy, and a missed call is usually a lost sale. Voice AI answers the restaurant's phone line, takes an order or a reservation, answers questions about hours and menu, and sends the result to the point of sale. Some products also handle texts, WhatsApp messages or email. They differ in scope. A few are built for takeaway orders, some are reservation hosts, and some extend to drive-through and kiosk voice ordering. Ask how the product passes a call to staff when it gets stuck.

Who needs it

Pizzerias, takeaways and busy restaurants that miss calls during service, and full-service venues that lose reservation calls. It is worth considering when staff answer the phone between other tasks, or when a large share of your orders comes in by phone. A venue with few calls gains little.

What to look for

  • Orders or reservations. Virnika, Kea and Certus AI focus on taking orders, while Slang.ai and Sadie centre on reservations. Sadie sells order handling as a separate Orders plan.

  • Orders posted into the POS. Kea lists Toast, Square, Clover and Olo, and Certus AI lists Toast, Square, Clover, SkyTab and Aloha. An order that misses the till must be retyped.

  • Handoff to a person. Hostie offers live transcripts and takeover, and Palona lists human handoff. Check staff can step in during a call.

  • Minutes and per-order charges. Virnika charges $300 per location a month with 700 minutes, then $0.43 a minute. Ask Arthur adds $0.75 per confirmed order. Compare both against your call volume.

  • Languages and channels. Ask Arthur answers in more than 30 languages, and Eatamigo and Palona also take WhatsApp, text or email. Match these to how your customers contact you.

  • Phone line changes. Slang.ai and Certus AI work by forwarding your number, while Hostie can replace your phone system and port the number. Check what changes for your line and how you can switch off.
